About me
Hi! I’m Paulo, the indie developer behind OBG Games, a personal project focused on creating platform games that are fun and accessible for all ages. OBG Games is not a big company – it’s just me, carefully taking care of every detail of the games, from the code to the art, always trying to blend nostalgia with new ideas.
I have a degree in Electrical Engineering with an emphasis on Telecommunication Systems, and I worked for a few years in engineering and IT at companies such as IBM (Brazil) and CTAG in Galicia, Spain. During that time, I was always curious about game development and wanted to explore my creative side, so I gradually started studying and experimenting with it in my free hours.
I began by creating small, simple games just to put into practice what I was learning, inspired by many old games that marked my childhood. That’s where the name OBG came from: it stands for “old but gold”, an expression in English that means something old that is still very good.
On my journey as a game developer, I discovered LibGDX, a cross-platform game development framework, where I was able to dive much deeper into game creation. On top of it, I ended up building my own engine and a level editor to design stages and experiment with different gameplay ideas.
Over time, I’ve focused mainly on platformers, trying to create a friendly and welcoming experience inspired by the classic games I used to play as a kid.
I hope you enjoy the games I’ve released under the name OBG Games – and the new ones I plan to create in the future.
